For big events like weddings, vacations, or cruises, it’s best to schedule your hair removal 2–3 days before the event. If you’re waxing your face or arms, I recommend doing it at least 2 days in advance. That gives your skin time to fully calm down, just in case there’s any mild irritation or sensitivity.

Reactions are rare, but things like tiny white bumps (similar to folliculitis) can happen — and we don’t want them showing up in your wedding photos. I’ll guide you on how to prep and protect your skin so it looks perfect on your event.

You don’t need to do anything special just make sure the hair is long enough. Think a grain of rice that’s about 1/8 inch (3–4 mm), which is plenty for a clean removal. If it’s your very first time and your hair is longer it's even better. That usually means smoother results that last longer.

Here are a few golden rules to avoid possible irritation:

• Try to avoid sweating or getting dirty for 24 hours — that includes gym workouts, deep cleaning, and yardwork
• Keep your phone away from freshly waxed areas (especially your face)
• Avoid touching the area with unwashed hands
• It’s best to stay away from the beach and pool — salt, chlorine, and heat may irritate your skin
• Avoid tanning (sun or tanning beds) for 48 hours — waxed skin is more sensitive to UV damage
• Let hair grow at least 1/8 inch before your next visit
• Stay consistent — regular waxing makes the process easier and less painful over time

With consistent waxing or sugaring your hair grows back finer, softer, and lighter. That means no more itchy stubble or prickly regrowth — just smooth skin that stays that way longer.

One of the main reasons people shave is the uncomfortable stubble — it feels rough, grows back fast, and makes it hard to skip a day. With waxing or sugaring, that’s not a problem. Hair grows back gradually and evenly, and the smooth feeling lasts for weeks.

Regular treatments = less discomfort, longer results, and hair that’s way easier to manage over time.

Waxing and sugaring are both methods of hair removal that pull hair from the root and leave skin smooth. The main difference is in the material and technique.

Waxing (hard wax) feels warm when applied.
Sugaring is room temperature or body temperature, so it may feel gentler for some.

Sugaring usually takes about 10-15 minutes longer because of the technique and the texture of the paste.
Both methods are effective, but sugaring is often preferred for sensitive skin.

You should always check with your doctor if you have any concerns, but many pregnant clients choose to continue waxing or sugaring throughout their pregnancy as long as it is going smoothly and there are no complications. Your skin might be a little more sensitive than usual, but the treatments are safe when done by a professional. Please let me know you’re expecting so I can make sure you’re comfortable.

While taking Accutane (isotretinoin) — and for 6 months after — your skin becomes extremely sensitive. Waxing during this time can cause burns, skin lifting, and even permanent scarring. The same goes for topical retinoids, which thin the skin and increase sensitivity. Even low-strength retinol creams can raise the risk of irritation. That’s why it’s so important to let your esthetician know what you’re using — it’s all about keeping your skin safe. Services cannot be performed on clients currently taking oral isotretinoin or who have used it in the last 6 months, and may be refused up to 12 months post‑therapy.

You should disclose any medication or condition that may affect skin integrity, including but not limited to:

• Oral isotretinoin (Accutane®, Claravis®, Amnesteem®, Absorica®, etc.) within the past 12 months.
• Topical retinoids
• Antibiotics
• Alpha/beta‑hydroxy acids
• Chemical peels
• Microdermabrasion
• Recent sunburn
• Laser treatments
